A historical-to-modern overview of vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) — from its 1950s–70s surgical origins through key trials (RIVUR, Swedish Reflux Trial) to today's risk-stratification models (Khoury, Kirsch, Cooper) and Loma Linda's own outcomes data. Joshua Chamberlin, MD, FAAP
Dr. Joshua D. Chamberlin, MD, FAAP, is a pediatric urologist and Associate Professor at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, where he has served on faculty since 2019. He specializes in minimally invasive and robotic pediatric urologic surgery, with clinical work spanning kidney and reconstructive surgery, stone disease, and care for children with spina bifida and neurogenic bladder. His research focuses on vesicoureteral reflux and prenatal hydronephrosis, and he is an active clinician-researcher who has authored 32 peer-reviewed publications and presented 108 abstracts at national, regional, and local meetings, while mentoring more than 60 students and residents. He earned his MD from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and completed his urology residency and pediatric urology fellowship at the University of California, Irvine and Children's Hospital Orange County.
