Inspiring Future Urologists: A Day at the Stanford Tri-Valley Clinical Academy

Rustin Massoudi, MD, recently participated in the Stanford Tri-Valley Clinical Academy, bringing his expertise to teach and inspire high school students interested in medicine. Joined by PA Brooke Edelson, Dr. Massoudi led an engaging two-hour session focused on the field of urology.

The session included an overview of urology, followed by a hands-on experience where students practiced essential surgical skills, such as kidney stone and prostate surgery. Dr. Massoudi noted, "It is crucial to give young students exposure to medical specialties such as urology! We had a wonderful hands-on session with the students where they had an opportunity to practice urologic surgical skills. By the end of the day, we had a few students who were keen to learn more and you could tell we had piqued their curiosity about the field."

This initiative aligns with the Stanford Tri-Valley Clinical Academy’s mission to bring young learners an active experience in the practice of medicine in the Tri-Valley area. The program aims to provide meaningful educational experiences while fostering professional connections with Stanford faculty, trusted community physicians, and hospital staff who are eager to share their passion for the field of medicine.
