Stanford Urology's Successful WSAUA Campaign

The Department of Urology at Stanford School of Medicine recently concluded a highly successful campaign at the 100th annual Western Section American Urological Association (WSAUA) conference, held in Kauai, Hawaii, from October 27 to November 1. Represented by over 12 faculty members, residents, postdoctoral scholars, fellows, and researchers, Stanford Urology contributed through expert panel discussions, scientific programs, lectures, podium and poster presentations, and DEI roundtable discussions.

WSAUA, the largest urology meeting in the western U.S., continues to provide an exceptional platform for academic and professional growth. Our team earned peer recognition, received prestigious awards, and expanded their professional networks while presenting Stanford’s cutting-edge research.

In addition to making meaningful connections and lasting relationships with top urology professionals, all in a beautiful and vibrant setting, we returned from WSAUA with a bag full of awards.

·      Lee White secured 2nd place in the History Essay Contest.

·      Simon Soerensen received the Best Poster Award for his presentation, "Urologist Density and the Risk of Prostate Cancer Mortality in US Counties."

·      Steve Zhou, a fifth-year Stanford Urology resident, earned 2nd place in the Best Poster category for his presentation, "Artificial Intelligence Detects More Prostate Cancer Than Urologists on Micro-Ultrasound."

·      Minji Jung achieved overall 3rd place in the Unmoderated Poster category for her presentation, "Cardiovascular Disease Mortality Overtakes Cancer Mortality in Renal Cell Carcinoma Survivors: A Population-Based Cohort Study."

The next WSAUA conference is set to take place in Napa, California, from November 2nd to November 6th 2025.
